S.C.C.A. was established in the Fall of 2010 as a non-profit organization with the purpose of bringing awareness to Autism and providing assistance to those individuals who work daily with children affected by Autism. Thanks to the fundraising efforts during our first eight years, S.C.C.A. has distributed over $168,000 in funds to Clinton County Special Education teachers, organizations such as the Quad City Autism Center, Up With Families and Challenger Little League, as well as area High School Seniors (in the form of scholarships). These funds were used to purchase materials that these individuals may not have had access to through their limited budgets - items such as computer software, sensory items, laptops, electronics and even the materials to create an entire sensory room for students with autism to utilize when necessary during the school day.
S.C.C.A. is operated through the hard work of a committee of volunteers who are passionate about the subject of Autism. The entire S.C.C.A. committee is generous enough to donate their time, which allows the organization to give 100% of the money raised to the very deserving recipients. Additional volunteers are always welcome; contact S.C.C.A. at strides4cca@yahoo.com.
